1. What infections does Ellfox-OZ treat?
Ellfox-OZ treats acute bacterial diarrhea, dysentery, amebiasis, giardiasis, intra-abdominal infections (peritonitis, abscess), pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), endometritis, bacterial vaginosis, and dental infections.
2. How should I take Ellfox-OZ tablets?
Take exactly as prescribed, usually one tablet twice daily. Take with food to reduce stomach upset. Swallow whole with water. Complete the full course even if you feel better. Avoid alcohol during and for 3 days after treatment.
3. What are the common side effects?
Common side effects include nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, headache, dizziness, and rash. Ornidazole may cause metallic taste. Levofloxacin may rarely cause tendon pain (stop and inform your doctor immediately if this occurs).
4. Who should not take Ellfox-OZ?
Avoid in children under 18 years, during pregnancy, breastfeeding, patients with epilepsy, history of tendon disorders, or known allergy to fluoroquinolones or nitroimidazoles. Caution in elderly and those on corticosteroids.
